Head-to-head for Tesco job

Wagstaffs made six people redundant on Monday in a “streamlining and restructuring exercise”, according to consultancy partner Jonathan Shaw.

Four of the job losses are designers – one senior – while the other two are administration positions, says Shaw. No more redundancies are expected. The branding consultancy wants to “concentrate on being more cost-effective and profitable, and focus more on creative output”, he adds.

The redundancies follow the resignation of creative director Caroline Page and one other person in administration. Page left just before Judi Green was appointed creative director last week and is now freelancing.

Green’s consultancy The Green House was bought by Wagstaffs for an undisclosed sum this summer, making founders Judi and Brian Green associate directors (DW 4 July).

Page’s departure was unconnected with Green’s promotion, says Shaw. Page was unavailable for comment.

In the future the group is looking to make other acquisitions, either of design groups or complementary companies, although Shaw could not be more specific. The consultancy is now 35-strong.
