BA’s London Eye has no ethnic sting in its tailfin

A quip at his airline’s tailfin designs seems to have cost British Airways chief executive Bob Ayling his job last week.

During his opening presentation at the inaugural ‘flight’ of the London Eye last Thursday, Ayling dealt his final blow to the ‘ethnic’ creative work of the then Newell and Sorrell. ‘There will not be any multi-coloured tailfins here,’ he joked. By Friday he had mysteriously resigned.
