Carnaby shops for a new image

Property developer Shaftesbury is revamping the signage, directory boards and lighting of London’s Carnaby shopping area.

The decision was prompted by the Kingly Court retail development area at the bottom of Carnaby Street, which will also incorporate new-look street furniture.

Shaftesbury has been in talks with a few design groups over the project but no decision has yet been made, says senior surveyor Julia Masson.

The revamped signage scheme is scheduled to launch around September 2002.
