Bell takes on annual report work for DTI

London consultancy Bell Design has won a four-way paid pitch to design the Department of Trade and Industry’s annual report for 1995.

The DTI is also believed to have run a paid pitch when it commissioned Bosworth Field, another London group, to design literature promoting a trade mission to the Philippines and Vietnam this month.

A Bell spokeswoman says that the reason it won the annual report pitch was “because of our typographic approach. We suggested a clean, legible look which went down very well”. The report, to be published in March, will consist of two publications – a slim annual report and a weightier Expenditure Plans Report.

Bosworth Field’s brochure provides profiles of UK companies. “We weren’t allowed to give any emphasis to one company over another, so we had to make sure the design was uniform,” explains director Alan Binding.
