Budget aid for small business

Tuesday’s budget will help small businesses – ‘the seedcorn of our future prosperity’, claimed Chancellor Kenneth Clarke.

His measures include a 20 000 tax threshold on new share option schemes for employees and a cap on the maximum business rate increase of 5 per cent for small businesses.

The Budget, said Clarke, will help make the UK ‘the enterprise centre of Europe’.
