Two new faces at the ministry

Former arts minister Mark Fisher has been replaced by Alan Howarth at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, in the latest phase of the Government reshuffle. He takes on responsibility for museums and galleries, architecture and design.

Janet Anderson is to replace sacked DCMS minister Tom Clarke. As minister for tourism, film and broadcasting, she will cover the creative industries and the press.

At the Department of Trade and Industry minister John Battle retains responsibility for design under his role in encouraging innovation.

His portfolio was reduced in the reshuffle to reduce his burgeoning workload, with responsibility for science and space being reallocated.
