Hat-Trick co-founder Jim Sutherland leaves
Hat-Trick Design co-founder Jim Sutherland is leaving the consultancy to set up on his own.
Sutherland is leaving at the end of the month. He says he will take a sabbatical for nine months to work on personal projects, before setting up his own consultancy to take on commercial projects.
He says, ‘I’ve been doing a lot of personal projects recently and really enjoying it. I’ve also realised that when I’ve been giving talks or presenting to students that around half the work I’m showing is personal work.’
Sutherland says, ‘Hat-Trick far exceeded our expectations. It’s been incredibly full-on for 13 years, which is how we’ve managed to do so much great work.’
Hat-Trick Design will continue under co-founder Gareth Howat with the existing team, clients and projects. Howat says the move is amicable and adds, ‘We have done some great work together and I wish him every success in the future.’
Hat-Trick was set up in 2001 by Sutherland, Howat and David Kimpton, who left in 2009.
