Electrolux appoints Stefano Marzano as chief design officer

Electrolux has appointed Stefano Marzano, formerly of Royal Philips Electronics, to the new role of chief design officer.

Marzano left his role as chief design officer of Philips in November last year, and was replaced by Sean Carney, former chief design officer of Phlips Consumer Lifestyle.

Marzano’s new role, which starts today, will see him leading ‘all the design-related competencies’ at Electrolux, according to the company. Electrolux senior vice-president of global design Henrik Otto will report to Marzano.

Keith McLaughlin, president and chief executive of Electrolux, says, ‘Stefano Marzano is one of the most regarded and prominent deisgn leaders in business today and I am both pleased and proud to have him on my team.

‘Appointing the first chief design officer in the group’s history proves the priority Electrolux gives to design as a core function for innovation together with R&D and marketing.’

Marzano has also been a professor at the Domus Academy in Milan and a visiting professor at Politecnico di Milano. He is a member of the European Design Leadership Board.

Electrolux’s design centre hub is in Swedish capital Stockholm and the company also has design centres in North America, Brazil, Italy, Singapore and Australia.
