Space Invaders and in-house designer work on Hotel La Tour Birmingham interiors

Hotel La Tour Birmingham, the flagship development in a new chain of city hotels, will be opening in March, with interior designs from Manchester consultancy Space Invaders and Hotel La Tour operations director Adrian Colman.

Space Invaders was appointed to the project in spring last year, and has worked across areas including the hotel’s bar, coffee shop and conference room buffet area.

Colman says, ‘The design is very technology-led – it’s very cutting edge design but with a classic twist.’

The colours and finishes of the interiors take their cues from the building’s architecture, designed by architect PhP.

The hotel features a triple-height reception area with glass staircase, a ‘theatre style’ conference floor; a roof terrace and 174 bedrooms and suites.

Colman says, ‘The colours and finishes of the bar stem from the exterior work, the bar is black leather with copper frontages. It’s picked up on the bronze that’s been used in the curtain walling. We wanted to warm up the area so it’s not a stark, clinical building.’

The soft furnishings and light fittings have also been designed by Colman, including an oversized floor standing lamp.

Hotel La Tour is due to open on 23 March, and four further developments are planned over the next five years.
