The competition is open to Britons aged 16 or over who have an interest in art as well as experience in the industry. The competition opens today and the deadline for entries is 27 July. Entries can be submitted through www.ba.com/greatbritons.

A panel of judges, including Emin and representatives from the Royal Academy of Arts, will select a shortlist of finalists to present ideas.

The winner will receive one-on-one mentoring from Emin as well as financial support from the airline.

Emin says, ‘I’m very excited to be an art ambassador for British Airways. It’s a brilliant opportunity to fly the flag and show the rest of the world how truly amazing British art can be.’
