Those Things That Make Your Eyes Blink is Katy Binks’ latest show, a statement addressing the barrage of confusing visual messages we are bombarded with in today’s cities.
The paintings have an almost ‘magic eye’ quality to them, and a jarring movement which appears to imprison shapes, or offer mazes with no solution.
If you’re still reading this – probably with hands bracing either side of your head while rocking slowly – and haven’t suffered some kind of arrest – cardiac or otherwise, here is some of her other work.
The older stuff explores geometry and form in softer focus, without the sense of disrupted kinetic energy, which the new show gives off.
Those Things That Make Your Eyes Blink is on until 30 November at the No Way Gallery, 20 Goswell Road, London EC1.
