Confessions of a Design Geek
’I was in love with loving’, admitted Saint Augustine, in his Confessions.
Tackling more aesthetic confessions is Katie Treggidan, the lady behind the Confessions of a Design Geek blog. Following her site’s success, she’s worked her little blogging socks off to draw together a series of design interviews, exploring the thoughts and inspirations behind a range of disciplines including graphic, furniture and product design.
The book has been designed by Falmouth-based consultancy Venn Creative. Simply entitled Interviews, it contains conversations with such design heavyweights as Anthony Burrill, Wim Crouwel, John Makepeace and s Javier Mariscal; with a foreword by William Shaw, web editor of London Design Festival. The book also features interviews with recent design graduates.
Things we’ve learnt:
-Anthony Burrill prefers crunchy peanut butter to smooth. He also thinks his Matika drill would come in very handy on a desert island for raft building purposes.
-Helen Lang has a dog called Des, and finds the colour orange ‘really problematic’
-Joanna Boyle, on the other hand, loves orange and thinks students should have fun
-Michael C Place loves fish and chips and used to be terrified of Daleks
-Javier Mariscal could be inspired by a fridge or a tomato
The book is available from http://www.confessionsofadesigngeek.com, priced £10. 50p from the sale of every copy will be donated to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.
I love Helen Lang’s work! Very beautiful nice to see you mention her here! X
