Kimpton Creative has created a new fundraising guide for the Sumatran Orangutan Society, using a mosaic of a young orangutan created from pennies.

David Kimpton, of Kimpton Creative, says: “While thinking of a suitable image to illustrate the message that a small amount of money can go a long way, we noticed the correlation between the colour of Orangutans and one penny pieces.

“Then we came up with the idea of creating a mosaic of a young Orangutan (who we are calling Penny!) using nothing but pennies. We took advantage of the wide tonal variations found in penny coins from the last 50 years.”

The A0 mosaic is made from 2,000 pennies, or £20, and Kimpton says the aim was to physically create an art piece that could be given to SOS to auction for fundraising.
