The Tramworks identity, by The Plant
The Plant has created the identity for The Tramworks – a workspace and creative hub at Hatherley Mews in Walthamstow, London.
The name is inspired by the history of the Mews, which was previously used as a tram turnaround.
The Plant says the design is inspired by early-century public transport – such as rolling destination blinds and stencil numerals synonymous with trams
All the Tramworks signage has been fret cut from corten steel using the same process used for the original tram signs in 1905.
On the wall in the tunnel entrance to the Mews, The Plant created a large scale mural which is hand-painted directly onto the wall.
