Design Dice, by Andy Neal
Creative block is a common plight for designers, who will often resort to word maps and image moodboards to spark new ideas. A graphic design tutor at Falmouth University has decided to make this process a little more tangible.
Andy Neal has designed a set of dice that aim to inspire young designers to think more creatively and help them problem-solve.
Students simply roll one or more of the dice when they “need a change in direction” or are “feeling stuck”, says Neal. The dice are laden with prompt words, which are intended to be interpreted in different ways and put together to form “infinite combinations”.
The dice have been tested over the last three years with undergraduates, postgraduates and graduates, and have now launched on Kickstarter.
If Neal hits his £4,800 target, the dice will go into production.
