Going to School picture book, by Rose Blake

Illustrator Rose Blake, daughter of pop artist Peter Blake, has created a picture book for young children helping to prepare them for their first days at school.

Going to School is published by Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, and is full of colourful illustrations that aim to be a “positive and encouraging” introduction to day-to-day life, says the publisher.

Readers explore a day in the life of a little girl at school, charting her journey from breakfast through to bedtime and meeting her school mates. Through visual clues, it alludes to each child’s interests, then at the end of the book reveals each student’s dream job.

The book aims to tell a story through pictures, and take away the fears young children have of going to school for the first time.

Going to School is available for £11.99 from 3 August via Amazon.
