The Typography Idea Book, by Steven Heller and Gail Anderson
Designers Steven Heller and Gail Anderson have put together a book looking at inspirational typographers.
The Typography Idea Book: Inspiration from 50 Masters has been published by Laurence King Publishing and aims to be a “jargon-free guide to typography”, says the publisher.
It includes examples of practical techniques, including overlapping, hand-lettering, and vectorising, along with how to create various styles, from witty and novelty typefaces to era-based ones such as avant garde, pastiche and digital.
Heller is a previous art director at the New York Times, whereas Anderson is a designer, writer and lecturer who has previously received the AIGA’s lifetime achievement medal.
The Typography Idea Book will be available from August and can be purchased for £12.95 here.
