Welsh Food and Drink magazine, by Smörgåsbord

Wales-based studio Smörgåsbord has been commissioned by the Welsh Government to design a new magazine promoting the country’s food and drink sector.

The new publication is part of a wider place branding project for Wales completed by Smörgåsbord last year.

The A3, loose-paper magazine features the Cymru Wales Sans typeface created in collaboration with type foundry Colophon, as well as food photography, and interviews with brands and chefs based in Wales.

Dylan Griffith, creative director at Smörgåsbord, says: “The oversized format allowed us to shoot plated food at actual size and gave us a canvas to set the typeface at large-scale.”

The first issue of the magazine will be distributed this month. It will be available for free from selected food outlets, and food, drink and tourism events.
